…..always lock your doors

I came back from the gym yesterday evening to find my house sprayed with water on the outside.

This will not be the first time. My neighbour, who is also autistic, occasionally waters my garden. Let’s call her Gisele. Gisele takes a look at the garden, decides it needs watering and proceeds to water it (very kind of her).

I live in a unit apartment. It’s sorta like a terrace building but in bungalow format consisting of four units. I think it’s still called terrace building. Gisele and I live in the middle apartments; I’m on the first half side, she’s in the second half. Go figure!

Anyway!!! I watered my garden that afternoon but apparently it didn’t satisfy Gisele. So, she watered my garden in the evening including the ceiling and walls *rolls eyes*.

I didn’t think much of it. Matter of fact, I was even grateful ‘cos I hadn’t watered it for a few days (bad plant parenting) so extra water wouldn’t hurt.

I go inside to shower and change and what did I find…

unknown mask
The unknown mask

This mask was outside my front door for most of yesterday. I don’t know where it came from nor who owns it? My guess is that the wind blew it there because I’ve been seeing weird things on my front lawn courtesy of the wind.

Now that I think about it, the wind blows things here but never blows them away!!! #Suspicious!!

All day, the mask was sitting pretty outside. And I’m 100% sure I didn’t move it so what the heck is it doing in my wash basin!!! I became paranoid.

Someone broke into my house!!!! (screams on the inside)

I searched the house but nothing looks touched. I’d already opened my back door by this time so I couldn’t recall if it was locked or not (short term memory loss). The backyard was also wet, it’s all concrete there so why would anyone water it?

This made me panic more, maybe it wasn’t Gisele!

I asked the other neighbour (2nd time speaking to them in almost a year). They told me they heard watering but didn’t see the person watering. So, I decided it was high time I spoke with Gisele.

I was wishing she’s the one ‘cos it’ll confirm my suspicion, hoping she’s not the one cos why would she enter my house without my permission but silently praying she’s the one cos it would mean “not a thief”.

She doesn’t communicate properly ‘cos autism so, it’s hard holding a convo with her but I was determined.

Knocked on her door, she opened.

Me: Hi, did you water my garden?
Gisele: yeah, watered the garden
Me: thanks for that, I appreciate. Did you put the mask in my washbasin?
Gisele: mask was outside, I put it inside.
Me: hmm good. That’s nice of you but that’s not my mask. Also, don’t enter my house when I’m not around.
Gisele: Was outside, put in the toilet, no shower, no bathroom.
Me: yeah, I’m saying…
(cuts in)
Gisele: I’m moving to (inaudible)’s house on Tuesday. (Begins jumping up like an excited toddler on a trampoline)
Me: (knowing this conversation isn’t heading anywhere; she didn’t steal anything that I’m aware of; she’s probably harmless) nice, are you excited!
Gisele: Yeap!!!
Me: when do you move? On Tuesday!
Gisele: yeap!!
Me: alright take care bye!
Gisele: enjoy your evening

Well, that went well!! I thought sarcastically. Anyway, the mask is in a safe place now… The bin! I called Gift and ranted.

Safe haven for the unknown mask hopefully it is not covered with COVID

Morale of the story: to check my doors before leaving to prevent my valuables from taking off on a road trip without me!!
