As seen on the Embassy’s website, the one in New Zealand, a “transit visa is only issued to travellers who will stop over in Japan en-route to another country due to flight schedules.” If you are transiting within the same airport and do not plan to leave the secure transit area, then no visa is required.

HONG KONG

In general, unless a person has the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong, he/she requires a visa/entry permit to enter Hong Kong as a visitor longer than the allowed visa free period.

Overseas travelers from some countries only need a Hong Kong visa for transit if they pass through immigration, for example if your onward flight is some time away and you wish to leave the airport. However, if such foreign nationals remain in the airport transit area, they do not require a visa.

On the other hand, travelers of certain nationalities require a transit visa for Hong Kong even if they remain airside and do not pass through immigration. Example, nationals of countries who require a consular visa for Hong Kong must have a visa when transiting through the HKSAR.

So if you’re travelling on a Nigerian passport, then YES. VISA is required to travel to HKSAR for whatever purpose, including those who will only be transiting (even if they remain within the airport transit area). Cameroon& Ghana: YES. VISA is required for the HKSAR for whatever purpose, including those who are in transit. Except holders of Diplomatic and Official passports.

For Diplomatic and Official passport holders: You may visit the HKSAR visa-free for a stay not exceeding 14 days. VISA is required when your stay in HKSAR exceeds 14 days. India: enter Hong Kong with 90 days visa free period. VISA is required when your stay in Hong Kong exceeds 90 days. Read more.
