My first time at Bondi beach, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, was during my first visit to Australia. The year was 2018 and I went on this trip with my friend Lamis in December.
We’d used the Big Bus Sydney for our hop-on, hop-off Sydney tour. The tour bus was our most convenient option to explore the Emerald city. At the time, we didn’t know anyone who lived in Sydney nor did we have much time to spend there. It was the last leg of our visit to Australia. Before that, we had visited Tasmania and Melbourne. This trip was also before I met my flat-mate who then became my friend through whom I experienced my first Asian wedding.
The day started out with great weather and kept on looking good giving us ample time to visit attractions and take great photos. By the time we were set to go to Bondi beach, the heavens opened and the sky let down heavy downpour. Lamis and I were so distraught since we had so much planned for Bondi beach. You know photos, boomerangs, relaxing in the sun, playing in the ocean, enjoying the scenery, the whole beach life package.
Meanwhile the weather was like YIMU!!! It wasn’t expecting what came next. You see, “Never underestimate the power of two determined women on mission” because where there is a will, there is a way. Can’t find the photo at the moment but when I do, I shall update it here. Watch out!
We made up our minds that we will enjoy this beach come what may… and so we did! and that’s on PERIODDT!
Valuables locked up and secured, we hit the beach in the rain. The scene was just like playing in the rain as a child. It was different and surreal. When the weather saw that it couldn’t stop us, it decided to stop the rain and let out sunlight. What an experience it was.
One year later, I was back on Bondi beach again. This time with the Halesowens!! It will also be the day I ate the bug-laced ice cream.
We did the Bondi coastal walk. Tried to have lunch at Bondi Iceberg club but it was a member only access. So, we had lunch somewhere else instead. Chilled at the beach and took the train home.
So there, Bondi beach one year apart.
