Types of Visas for New Zealand

types of new zealand visas and how to apply for them

As mentioned in my previous post, one of the most common questions prospective travelers ask is, “Do I need a visa for New Zealand?”. I also stated that the type of visa you need to enter New Zealand will depend on several factors, including your nationality, the purpose of your visit, and the length of your stay. This post is all about types of New Zealand visas based on the purpose of your visit.

Citizens from visa-waiver countries can visit New Zealand for up to 90 days (or up to 6 months for British citizens) without needing a visa. But that priviledge ends with visiting. If you need to do anything other than that, you must get the relevant visa. Of course, our dearly beloved citizens and permanent residents of Australia are not included in this gist. They can enter and leave New Zealand as they please and even stay indefinitely without any additional paperwork. The gesture is not reciprocated by the way meaning permanent residents of New Zealand cannot enter Australia without relevant visa. New Zealand citizens only just earned the right to stay indefinitely recently. Let’s come back to the subject matter

New Zealand has visas that allow you visit, work, study, do business, live indefinitely. There are also visas for special cases like humanitarian situations. Below are the types of New Zealand visas.
